Last Night’s Highlights
Chris Sale tied a career high with his 17th win of the season, Leury Garcia, Melky Cabrera and Tim Anderson walloped homers and the White Sox won their fourth straight, 13-6, over the Rays at U.S. Cellular Field.
The Sox are now 43-33 at home this season and have won 10 of their last 14 games and 19 of 28 at USCF.
Sale delivered his 23rd quality start of the season, allowing three runs and seven hits in seven innings of work. Those seven frames bring his season inning total to 221.2 and his seven strikeouts give him 227 for the year. Chris and the Nationals’ Max Scherzer are the only major-league hurlers to strike out 200-plus batters in each of the last four seasons.
L. Garcia’s homer was a three-run blast and his first of the season. He also tripled. Melky cranked a two-run shot and now has 14 along with 82 RBI. Anderson, who fell just a triple short of the cycle, hit a solo homer for his eighth long one of the year and drove in three. Todd Frazier, Jason Coats and Adam Eaton each added a run batted in while Frazier, who had a pair of hits, is now just three RBI shy of 100. The Sox collected 14 hits in all.
Here’s the happy recap and some words and action from Sale:

Quote of the Day
Sale after chalking up win No. 17:
“I’ve said it a lot of times before, but no matter what you’ve done, where you’ve been, who you are, you can always be better. That doesn’t always mean on the field, either. I’ll just try to be better all the way around next year and hopefully make a push for meaningful games this time here.”
White Sox vs. Rays at U.S. Cellular Field (7:10 p.m. CT, CSN) in the finale of the four-game set. Starting Pitchers: LHP Jose Quintana (13-11, 3.21) for the Sox, RHP Chris Archer (8-19, 4.02) for the Rays.
