Today’s News

Good News of the Day

Chris Sale is ready to go. He’ll be activated from the disabled list and will start tomorrow night against the Yankees at U.S. Cellular Field. Sale, who is 3-0 with a 2.30 ERA, will be making his first appearance since April 17.

To welcome Chris back the Sox have expanded the “K Zone For Sale” to include Section 155 for all future Sale starts. “K Zone For Sale” is a new ballpark promotion this season in sections 154 and

155–for a total of more than 930 seats.  When Sale starts at home, fans with tickets in these sections will receive a free K-Zone t-shirt and strikeout card, which can be picked up at the #SoxSocial Lounge before the end of the first inning. “K Zone For Sale” tickets are $20 for most games, with the exception of Family Sundays, when the tickets are $15 (subject to availability).

And don’t forget Sale Bobblehead Night on Saturday!

Plays of the Day

Gordon Beckman and Conor Gillaspie each pounded out three hits, Tyler Flowers homered for the third time this season (click on top click below) and Beckham and Dayan Viciedo each drove in a run. But the big blow in the Sox victory last night was Adam Dunn‘s long three-run, eighth inning homer, his seventh of the year (click on bottom link)…on the pitching side, Andre Rienzo remained unbeaten (4-0), allowing just two runs, five hits and a pair of walks along with eight strikeouts in six innings of work. The Sox are 6-0 in Rienzo’s starts this season…with closer Matt Lindstrom on the DL, Ronald Belisario came on in the ninth and chalked up his first save in a White Sox uniform.

Dunn’s homer was the 447th of his career. He ranks 38th on the all-time home run list, two behind Vladimir Guerrero and Jeff Bagwell who are tied for 36th place.

Dunn praising Rienzo after last night’s win:

“He had some really good stuff today. He’s kept us in pretty much every ballgame…When he has three or four pitches working like he did tonight, he’s tough.”
