Celebrating The Hawk

We are going to honor “The Hawk,” Ken Harrelson before tomorrow night’s game when we unveil a plaque naming the broadcast level at U.S. Cellular Field the “Hawk Harrelson Broadcast Level” of the ballpark.  The honor is well deserved given Hawk’s long tenure calling White Sox games.

During his broadcast career, Harrelson has earned five Emmy awards, two “Illinois Sportscaster of the Year” awards, been selected as a finalist for Major League Baseball’s “Ford Frick Award” and been honored with the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Comcast SportsNet Awards dinner, benefitting March of Dimes.

On June 8, 2010, the White Sox celebrated “Hawk Harrelson Night” and presented Harrelson with a crystal microphone in honor of his years of service in the White Sox broadcasting booth.

Hawk was recently featured in Shore magazine. Read it here.

That’s a nice gesture being given to “the Hawk”. Wish I could be there for the festivities, but you know, too far to drive and too expensive to fly. I’ll be watching though. Before that happens though, we have one more game tonight vs. the Yankees. Good series so far, so keep it close and you never know what will happen in the end. Go E Jax and go Sox’11….j.k.

Technically, it’s still in game, but against CC and with the Yankees leading by 5-0 score, I’m thinking this game is ovah…. I hope I’m wrong. E-Jax needs to get his emotions under control. After being squeezed by the umpire, Edwin LOST it and walked four in a row and then gave up a sac fly for a two zip lead, then things got worse in the fifth………Go Sox’11…..j.k.

And now there goes the bull pen for the home stand. Still nobody out and it’s 8-0, bases loaded and Pena is leaving the game. I don’t blame him: I’m leaving the game too…….. Tomorrow Folks……. Go Sox’11…..j.k.

I see we clawed our way back into fourth place! (thanks to the Twinkies ineptness). That was a miserable road trip to say the least. May we PLEASE take four out of six in this home stand?….. Go Sox’11….

Yeah, rooting has turned to pleading. Next comes anger then denial. Come on Boys help my sanity!!!!!. j.k.

Well, if I’m looking positive, we split a series with the Yankees that very well could have gone 3-1 their way. (Thank you Lillibridge!) Now we’re back home, and maybe now is the time to start turning things around against the O’s. I don’t think we have many 25-5 runs in our bag anymore. Let’s start off the homestand on the right foot. Go White Sox!

Just got home from the game (if you can call it that). Best part of the night was the postgame fireworks. The one constant from last year’s terrible start and this year’s even worse start is the manager and the coaches. hmmmmmm
