I forgot to add my final kicker to yesterday’s post, Hurt Feelings.  The kicker should have been that Sports Illustrated, in its annual baseball special, didn’t list this blog among the blogs and fan websites that have the best White Sox info.  I’m hurt.

No surprise as well, but SI picks up third in the division behind Cleveland and Detroit.  We may all feel indignant, but how about the defending AL champion Tigers who add Gary Sheffield to their team and still have the Indians picked ahead of them?  This is about the third straight year the Indians are everyone’s darling in spring training …

Overall, SI ranks us 12th in MLB and 7th in the AL behind NYY (1st), Angels (2nd), Red Sox (3rd), Indians (7th), Tigers (8th) and Jays (9th).

Today’s Lineup

Erstad, LF; Iguchi, 2b; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Dye, RF; Crede, 3B; AJ, C; BA, CF; Uribe, SS.  Contreras pitching.

Cold AJ

Brian Anderson did a live spot on Cold Pizza early this morning, and his appearance was seen by the early arrivers in the Sox clubhouse.

"Next time, look into the camera," AJ chided him.

"Hey, I’m not AJ, Mr. Media," Anderson responded.  "I’m not on Cold Pizza all the time like you are."

Anderson’s appearance included a self-made hat advertising a friend’s father’s business.  The hat read, Merchado Masonry & Concrete.

SI is clueless. They are always wrong. They should have had the Twinkies ahead of us too. They still have Johan, one of the best bullpens, and a stacked lineup. The White Sox have their work cut out for them this season.

kr…Kristopher,my friend…
Have no worries, have no fears about what the national media has to say about what will happen during the course of the ’07 season…Just remember, this isn’t the WWE…nothing is scripted in advance…

As for Team Rah-Rah…they MAY be in the hunt all season…so MAY be Los Tigres,so MAY be deanklub’s Tribe…just as long as the boys know(which I believe they do,thanks to the field manager and the GM,in addition to the “armchair experts” in White Sox Universe)that they have their work cut out for them, and act appropriately…meaning they don’t start out falling flat on their collective faces and digging a hole halfway to China for themselves…there MAY be some fun days and nights at the Cell…

Getting back to the national media in general, and SI in particular…just remember,Kris, about the dreaded SI curse…or have you forgotten a couple of years ago when they boldly predicted that the Flubs were going ALL THE WAY…

On a purely personal,non-baseball related note, I would like to welcome a new member to the world… Guiel Francis Quaid checked in this past Sunday night…he is the first-born for my nephew Brian and his wife Ana…5 lbs,13 ounces…healthy as can be…and he shares something with a lot of the comments and concerns about the ’07 WS that a lot of you have had,and have registered here… he was premature…about a month early…
I have promised my nephew that I will wait until he is at least 5 years old before I go about convincing him that the proper colors to follow are silver and black…instead of red, blue and choke (the two basic colors, and the usual end result for the inhabitants of Jurassic Park at Neverland)…

I agree that SI is usually wrong. And I do not want them to pick the Sox for 1st place, because that would mean the Sox wouldn’t finish first. But i do know they are underestimating the Twinkies.

Congrats to Tom and the proud parents Brian and Ana! I wish you all the best.

Thought I should point out that the Twins won the division not the Tigers, and they are picked 4th

Couldn’t agree with you more about the Twinks kr, I’ve certainly learned not to underestimate them, especially the second half of the season. And congrats to Tom on the newest Quaid…I know of parents who play Mozart for their babies to stimulate their mental development. Maybe you should throw on 670 during the games…on second thought, Singleton’s commentary might actually stunt little Guiel’s growth, better to wait till he’s 2 or 3.

So who’s gonna grab this 5th spot fellow fanatics? I’ve got my money on Gavin, with Charlie a close second. I love Danks, but I’d rather not see him rushed into the rigors of the majors before he’s mentally prepared. Better for him to get some more seasoning. Beautiful day in Iowa, opening day must be right around the corner!

Oh yeah, saw Brian on Cold Pizza this morning. That tattoo was impresive. It’s about the coolest thing he’s done since clocking Mabry last year. I’m pulling for Brian though. As much as Erstad’s impressed this Spring (not ready to eat crow yet, let’s see how the season unfolds) I don’t see him as our everyday CF.

What’s the tattoo all about?

I write with a heavy heart today. My Grandfather passed away last night. I thought that I would put a post up here because we brought him with to the World Series game 2. My brother and I both told him that he should stand up (he was in a wheel chair for the game because the blue seats are not the most comfortable) before Paulie came up because he would see a Grand Slam. He will be laid to rest tomorrow in a Paul Konerko jersey. He never stopped talking about that game, and now he will take the story with him. He will be missed.

All our sympathies go out to you and your family, Mooney. May your Grandfather rest in peace…. j.k., in tucson, and the sky wept….

Mooney, my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Your grandfather is now with my daddy, remember, Angels in the Outfield. Know that seeing that grand slam probably made his life complete. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

TQ- congrats on the little guy, I’m sure they have little preemie outfits in silver and black that can be purchased.. send me some pics on the home email.. thanks..

Dear Scott- I don’t care what SI says (or doesn’t say) about this site…just don’t ever stop writing it! I love coming on and reading what you have to say and really enjoy the pictures and behind the scenes info. So thanks from this fan in Hong Kong!
My sympathies to Mooney and congrats to TQ…as one Sox fan leaves, another is born to take his place.

This blog is a true reflection of our world. We come together, sharing a common bond of various levels of insanity. And yet, all through this we see the spirit and events of the world. Sympathies to Mooney and family at the loss of their grandfather. Overwhelming joy to the birth of yet another member of the White Sox Universe, and finally, hope… As it is March, and hope springs eternal, here’s to hope for peace, prosperity, and a whole lotta White Sox Winners!!

Happy Birthday Mark Buehrle

On a happy note, Someone purchased my nephews, who were born December 30th, flubs outfits. My brother in law told the person that purchased them that they better have gave a gift receipt because his kids weren’t going to be seen in that. I thought it was a funny story. Starting out Sox fans early.
